The Building Technology Educators’ Society is pleased to announce that the 2027 BTES Conference will take place May 24–27, 2027 in Fargo, North Dakota, hosted by North Dakota State University.The conference will explore Tectonics and Stereotomy—revisiting foundational questions of how buildings are made, from assembly and joinery to mass and material expression. Drawing from Semper’s framework, the conference invites reflections on how contemporary tools, fabrication methods, and cultural practices are reshaping relationships between craft, technology, and form.Abstract submissions will be due in early Fall 2026.More details, including the full call for papers, will be released soon. The BTES Board is seeking expressions of interest in hosting our 11th biennial conference in the summer of 2027. Please see the full RFP for details. We have a two stage process. The first step is a (max) two-page initial proposal due to the Board by November 7, 2025.If you are interested in hosting the 2027 conference—or a future BTES conference—or have thoughts on potential locations or formats, please reach out.
